Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using this website (the "Site"), operated and facilitated by KNS ("KNS," "we," "us," or "our") in partnership with Sierra Leone Grammar School ("SLGS") for the AI Innovation Bootcamp & Challenge (the "Programme" or "Competition"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the Site and participate in the Programme.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Site.

2. User Roles

The Site supports three account types, matching the portals on this platform, each with defined responsibilities and access levels:

3. Eligibility

KNS reserves the right to verify eligibility and deny or revoke access at its discretion, in partnership with SLGS.

• Participants must be currently enrolled students meeting the age/grade criteria set by the Programme organisers.
• Mentors must be approved by KNS (in coordination with SLGS where required) before being granted ongoing access and team assignments.
• Administrators are appointed by KNS.

4. Account Registration & Security

• Users must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and onboarding.
• Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials.
• Users must notify Administrators immediately of any unauthorised use of their account.
• KNS is not liable for any loss arising from a User's failure to protect their account credentials.

5. Code of Conduct

All Users agree to:

• Treat other Users, mentors, judges, and organisers with respect
• Submit only original work; plagiarism or misrepresentation of authorship will result in disqualification
• Build from a listed problem statement or their own idea for a Sierra Leone problem, but not submit an existing solution or old project as new work
• Refrain from posting offensive, discriminatory, or harmful content in chats, workspaces, or submissions
• Not attempt to hack, disrupt, or misuse the Site or its data
• Not use the platform to collect or misuse another User's personal information

Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in suspension, disqualification, or removal from the Programme and the Site.

6. Intellectual Property

• Participant submissions (code, designs, documentation, videos, pitch materials, etc.) remain the intellectual property of the Participant(s) who created them, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
• By submitting a project, Participants grant KNS and SLGS a non exclusive, royalty free licence to display, reproduce, and promote the submission (for example on the Site, in press materials, or at showcase events) for purposes related to the Programme.
• Participants and Mentors must not submit or upload content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others.

7. Programme Rules

Specific programme rules, grading criteria, submission formats, timelines, and deadlines are published on the Site (including Timeline, Challenges, Grading, and FAQ) and form part of these Terms by reference. It is each Participant's and Mentor's responsibility to review and comply with these rules.

8. Disqualification & Termination

KNS reserves the right to:

• Disqualify any Participant or team for violations of these Terms or the Code of Conduct
• Suspend or terminate any User's account for misuse of the platform
• Modify, postpone, or cancel the Programme at its discretion, with reasonable notice where possible, in coordination with SLGS

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site and Programme are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. KNS makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the availability, accuracy, or reliability of the Site.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, KNS and SLGS shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Site or participation in the Programme, including but not limited to data loss, technical failures, or disputes between Users.

11. Privacy

Use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data.

12. Changes to These Terms

KNS may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
